Overview

Sanjay Mewalall was born on 16 August 1975, completed his primary education at Woodlands Secondary School, Pietermaritzburg, where he matriculated in 1993. Sanjay has been involved with Local Government Finance at a 2nd sphere level since completing his primary education, from which he obtained employment with the then newly re-established Provincial Department of Traditional and Local Government Affairs (Community Services Branch) as an Administrative Clerk and moved up through the Ranks to Management level, taking advantage of the education opportunities offered by the Department, from which he qualified with a BComm Degree(Management) progressing towards membership of the Institute for Internal Auditors (IIA)

He is married with three children who form a very important part of his life and in his very limited spare time he enjoys watching sport on television, reading and listening to music.

Sanjay has personal aspirations towards furthering his studies to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.

In respect of his future endeavors for the Sisonke District Municipality, Sanjay realizes that the Department he now leads forms the core and heart of Service Delivery, he therefore adheres to and embraces the Municipality’s Mission Statement, with particular reference to the development of the infrastructure reticulations so as to provide a level of service delivery that will distribute equitable and sustainable life services to all sectors of the municipal populace.
